How To Adopt A Baby From Violet's Mini Pigs

1

Step 1: Research

Families are encouraged to thoroughly research mini pig ownership before beginning the adoption process.

Mini pigs are intelligent, emotionally aware animals that require:

  • A long-term commitment (12–18 years)

  • Consistent training and structure

  • Proper nutrition and weight management

  • Routine veterinary and hoof care

  • Compliance with local zoning laws and HOA regulations

Mini pig ownership is a lifestyle decision that requires preparation, stability, and realistic expectations.

Families who take time to educate themselves are far more likely to experience long-term success. While independent research is important, we are always available to answer questions and provide guidance to help families make informed, responsible decisions.

Step 2: Reservation Deposit & Welcome Process

Once research is completed and a family feels confident that a mini pig is the right fit, contact may be made to begin the approval process.

Approved families may place a non-refundable reservation deposit to secure placement on the waiting list or reserve an available piglet.

As a responsible breeder, we raise a limited number of piglets each year to ensure proper care, early socialization, and individualized attention. Deposits are applied toward the total adoption fee and allow for thoughtful, ethical planning of upcoming litters.

After a deposit is placed:

  • A formal welcome letter is sent

  • Required family and placement information is gathered

  • Access is provided to our private educational website created exclusively for our families

This private resource library is designed to help families prepare confidently for mini pig ownership, covering feeding guidance, home setup, training foundations, health expectations, and long-term care planning.

Step 3: Waiting List & Homecoming

For upcoming litters:

  • Families are notified when piglets are born

  • Piglets remain in our care while they acclimate and begin nursing well

  • Once stable and thriving, families are contacted again to select their piglet

  • Photos, videos, and developmental updates are provided throughout

Because many of our families travel from out of state, piglet selection may be completed remotely through detailed photos, videos, or scheduled FaceTime calls to avoid unnecessary travel.

Piglets do not leave for their new homes until approximately 8 weeks of age, ensuring proper early development and socialization.

Before going home, each piglet will be:

  • Spayed or neutered

  • Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations

  • Microchipped

  • Litter box trained

  • Acclimated to common household sights and sounds

  • Socialized in a structured home environment

When a piglet is ready for placement:

  • Final payment is completed

  • Transportation or pickup arrangements are confirmed

  • Ongoing breeder support begins

The relationship does not end at pickup — continued guidance and education remain available long after your piglet goes home.
