Violet's Frequently Asked Questions
There are many considerations to consider before taking on the responsibility of adopting a pet pig.
What is a Teacup pig?
Teacup is just a term to describe a smaller pet pig (no different than referring to the size of a Yorkie as a teacup, mini, toy or standard). Our piglets are small, but no pig stays “teacup sized” forever. At Violet’s Mini Pigs, we raise small pet pigs with realistic adult size expectations and provide honest guidance based on genetics, nutrition, and care. There are many different factors that contribute to the adult size of a small pet pig.
What is a Juliana Pig?
A Juliana pig is another name for a pet pig where the mother is spotted, the father is spotted, and the offspring will also likely be spotted, but spots are not guaranteed Adopting a Juliana pig does not guarantee the pig’s size in adulthood.
What is a Micro Pig?
A micro pig is another name used to describe a smaller pet pig. No pig stays micro sized forever. We prefer to not use this term, and do everything that we can to educate families on the factors that affect the adult size of their adopted babies.
Are pigs good pets?
Mini pigs are wonderful additions to the right family. They are highly intelligent and affectionate animals that require daily interaction, training, proper diet, and veterinary care. These are not low maintenance pets and should never be purchased on impulse.
What is the lifespan of a pig?
Similar to dogs, mini pigs typically live 12-18 years, but with a good caretaker, can live even longer.
What are the grooming requirements for a pig?
Pigs need brushing, hoof trims, and a bath with a gentle shampoo.
Are teacup pigs really that small?
Yes, the piglets start off small, but no pig stays that small forever. At Violet’s Mini Pigs, we raise small pet pigs with realistic adult size expectations and provide honest guidance based on genetics, nutrition, and care. There are many different factors that contribute to the adult size of a small pet pig.
